Integral Expeditions invites you to travel with us to one of the world’s most
fascinating destinations, a land of great and ancient civilizations and traditions
and a sophisticated, complex, and contemporary multiethnic society of nomads,
city dwellers and villagers. We will have a chance to explore a magnifi cent physical
and cultural landscape, to gain insight into an historical land that also commands
a central place in today’s rapidly changing world, and get to meet the Iranian
people whom we only see and read about from a great distance. Perhaps through
the prism that is Iran, we might even learn something new about ourselves.
We hope you will join us on this wonderful journey.
DAYS 1-3 Transfer to our hotel, get some rest, and we begin our tour of the bustling
metropolis of Tehran, the social and political center of the country, and a city with some
of the worlds most spectacular post-modern architecture. We will visit the Archaeological,
Carpet, and Ceramics Museums, Niavaran and Saadabad Palaces, and the Tehran
Bazaar, and get oriented to this powerful center in the heart of the Middle East.
DAYS 3-5 After an early morning fl ight, we start our exploration of Shiraz, the
celebrated heartland of Persian culture for over 2000 years. A city of revered poets,
exquisite mosques, and ancient sophistication, we will take in the atmosphere, visiting
the tombs of Hafez and Sadi, magnifi cent Persian Gardens, and medieval citadels. We
will also spend a morning visiting nearby Persepolis, one of the great archaeological
sites of the world, the spiritual center of the Persian Empire.
DAYS 5-8 We travel by land to Yazd, a World Heritage city in the desert, said to be
continuously occupied for over 6000 years. A maze of ancient streets, this Zoroastrian
center is full of covered walkways and bazaars, a wonderful place to wander.
DAYS 8-11 Continuing by land we travel to Isfahan, the center of the Persian Renaissance
of the 16th Century, and one of the fi nest cities in the Islamic world. We will experience
spectacular Persian medieval architecture—bridges, mosques, bazaars, and marvelous
teahouses, witnessing the high refi nement and sophistication of Persian culture.
DAYS 11-12 Back to Tehran by land via Kashan and Abyaneh and fi nally airport for
